Metal Fire Escape Inspections

Why Inspections Matter

Metal Fire Escape Inspections in
North Wales, Chester, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham

Understand the condition of your external metal fire escape with an inspection of its accessible steelwork, steps, landings and connections. We provide a written report with photographs and practical recommendations to help you identify deterioration and plan maintenance or repairs.

We offer two services: Annual maintenance reports and 5 year inspection surveys.

Fire Escape Inspections

Annual
Maintenance Reports

External metal fire escapes are exposed to rain, changing temperatures and everyday wear. Over time, corrosion, damaged coatings and loose components can develop into problems that affect the staircase’s condition and safety.

Fire Escape Inspections provides annual fire escape maintenance inspections across North Wales, Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds. Our inspections help building owners, landlords and property managers understand the condition of their external staircase and identify work that needs attention.

During the visit, we visually inspect accessible components, including steps, landings, handrails, supporting steelwork and connections. We look for visible deterioration, damage and maintenance concerns, such as rust, worn protective finishes and loose or damaged fittings.

We check:

You receive a written report with photographs explaining the issues identified and the maintenance or repairs recommended. This gives you a practical record to support maintenance planning and your wider fire safety arrangements.

An annual inspection is a useful condition check between more detailed surveys. Identifying problems early can help prevent further deterioration and make repairs easier to plan. If damage or a safety concern becomes apparent between visits, seek advice promptly.

This is a visual inspection that gives you a good indication of how the condition of your fire escape is changing every year. Whether you’re in North Wales, Liverpool, Brirmingham, Chester, Manchester or further afield, Fire Escape Inspections should be able to help.

Fire Escape Inspections

Five-Year Fire Escape
Inspection Surveys

A five-year fire escape inspection survey takes a more detailed look at your external staircase, going beyond routine maintenance concerns to consider its condition and suitability for continued use.

Fire Escape Inspections provides five-year surveys for properties across North Wales, Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds. The survey considers the staircase’s condition alongside relevant safety standards and guidance, helping identify concerns that may require repairs, improvements or further specialist assessment.

Within the agreed survey scope, this can include closer consideration of the supporting structure and connections, steps and landings, handrails and guarding, and the staircase’s layout and dimensions.

A five-year survey complements regular inspections and maintenance. It records findings at the time of inspection; it does not guarantee that a staircase will remain safe for the following five years. Earlier assessment may be needed if its condition deteriorates, it suffers damage or the building’s use changes.
